Why doesn’t the Mercusys MW305R set up in the settings?
Problem: does not work, can not access the page with settings Mercusys MW305R, to control the PC and tablet in terms of traffic distribution.
D-LINK DSL-2540V modem has served faithfully for many years – I didn’t want to change it for a modem with wi-fi, so I bought Mercusys MW305R to allocate Internet to my wife’s LENOVO tablet.
Initially, when installing everything was done according to the instructions:
- disconnected the modem
- connected the Wi-Fi router to the modem with a cable
- turned on the router and waited for it to boot up
- turned on the modem
- entered mwlogin.net in the Opera address bar – went to the settings page, entered passwords
In the tablet turned on Wi-Fi entered the password – went to the PC in mwlogin.net to share the speed of the Internet, but it did not work (in the settings of the modem as advised before starting all operations set DNS and IP on automatic after that cleaned the DNS cache).
So on such settings DNS (auto) Internet began to glitch on the PC and tablet – pages hung. I set my old DNS settings, where everything was OK – everything worked fine on both PC and tablet….
But after that I can’t log in to mwlogin.net on both PC and tablet.
I did all this several times (after disconnecting all cables and completely resetting the router) – the result is the same.
I would be very grateful for your help.
P.S. Yes and in the PC Device Manager I don’t see Mercusys MW305R although Wi-Fi is working.
Answer
Hello. You have written the address “nwlogin.net” several times in your question. The correct address is mwlogin.net. In a separate article I have already shown you how to enter mwlogin.net and open the settings of Mercusys routers.
The scheme ADSL modem + Wi-Fi router is very simple. If the Internet by cable from the modem worked before, then through the router it should work without problems. Including wi-fi.
I don’t really understand where exactly and why you changed DNS and IP settings on the modem. If the Internet through the modem worked. Did you connect the cable to the WAN (Internet) port on the router? It is also not clear how the Internet can glitch because of DNS. How can “hang” pages. If something with DNS, then sites do not open. Or not all sites open.
- On your computer and tablet, you should be set to automatically get IP and DNS. You can do a Windows factory reset.
- In your browser, try going to 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1
- You can try typing the address with http – http://mwlogin.net.
- On the router, you don’t need to change any settings other than the Wi-Fi network (name/password).
- The Mercusys MW305R should not show up in Device Manager. Absolutely not.
- There are other solutions in this article: /errors-and-breakdowns/does-not-go-into-the-settings-of-the-router-for-192-168-0-1-or-192-168-1-1-1-1-what-to-do/. There I told you what to do if you can’t get into the router settings. For Mercusys, these tips will work as well.
If you can’t get into the settings, you can add your question in the comments. I may have misunderstood something.
