After updating the firmware D-Link Dir-615, Wi-Fi disappeared (the indicator does not burn) and does not go into the router settings

The first day I connected this router.

Everything was fine, everything was working. I went to the router menu, there was a window that you need to update the firmware, which I did. After that everything was fine, everything worked except the TV (through the set-top box). I tried to go to the IPTV menu, but it didn’t work, it gave me a constant error, so I decided to go to the official D-Link website to look at the IPTV menu. D-Link site to see if there is a firmware is fresher, entered the search there Dir-615 and I got a list of 2 pages, went to each and found a picture identical to his, exactly the same, downloaded and updated, after this update does not light the lamp on the router that there is a Wi-Fi signal, of course in fact it is also not, and also can not go into the router menu through 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.1.

My router just says Dir-615, on the site this router looks completely different from mine, if you believe the off. site I have DIR-615/A/M1 (the picture is the same). I downloaded exactly from it and updated and everything is up. Through the cord directly from the router to the laptop Internet is. Reboots, and reboots via Reset did not help, please tell me how to fix the situation? Is it possible to bring it to life or all, you can throw out a new router that worked for 10 minutes?

I write the data of the router on the back:

P/N: RIR615M1A…M1E

H/W VER.: M1 F/W VER.:1.0.0

Response

Routers can be the same (in the same chassis) but run on different hardware. Especially if we are talking about D-Link Dir-615. There are already so many of these hardware versions….. Accordingly, and firmware for them different.

You have poured the wrong firmware into your router. From another model (hardware version). And from this your Dir-615 has turned into a brick.

On the back of the router, on the sticker, as well should be written model. For your router D-Link Dir-615 VER.: M1 F, on the official FTP-server of the company D-Link firmware is most likely located at this address: https://www.dlink.com/en/products/dir-615-wireless-n300-router (in the folder “old” old firmware versions). I haven’t found any other options.

You can try to restore the router.

Repairing D-Link Dir-615 router firmware

Brief instruction on emergency recovery of D-Link Dir-615 router VER.: M1:

  1. Download the firmware from the link above. I think you can download the latest one. If the latest does not want to download to the router, then try the very first (from the old folder).
  2. Turn off the router and disconnect all cables from it. Disconnect the Internet from the computer (disconnect the network cable, turn off wi-fi, if it is available).
  3. On the computer, in the properties of the network connection, for the IPv4 protocol, set the following parameters: IP address: 192.168.0.10 / Mask: 255.255.255.255.0 / Gateway: 192.168.0.1

  4. Use the network cable to connect the computer to the router (it is still turned off). Connect the cable to one of the LAN ports on the router (not WAN!).
  5. Press the Reset button to power up the router. Hold the Reset button for about 10 more seconds (8 blinks of the power indicator). After that you can release the Reset button.
  6. Open the browser and go to http://192.168.0.1.
  7. If everything is OK, the Failsafe UI page should open.
Failsafe UI page when restoring D-Link Dir-615 VER.: M1 FSelect the firmware file downloaded from the FTP-server and click on the “Send” button.
  8. You should see a message that the flashing is completed successfully.
  9. Then disconnect power from the router for about 30 seconds and turn it back on.
  10. If the recovery was successful, you can access the router settings at http://192.168.0.1. Factory login admin and password admin.
  11. Don’t forget to return automatic IP settings in the network connection properties.

Attention! If the Failsafe UI page at http://192.168.0.1 does not open after step 5, try to open it in another browser. If this does not work, try to do everything again, but instead of the actions described in step #5, do this:

  1. Turn on the router and after about 10 seconds press the Reset button. Wait 30 seconds.
  2. Without releasing the Reset button you need to power off the router and wait another 30 seconds.
  3. Without releasing the Reset button turn on the router and wait another 30 seconds.

Then follow the instructions above (item #6, etc.).

If this method fails to restore the firmware D-Link Dir-615, you can google for other solutions (but I doubt there are any). Or take the router to repair / replace it with a new one. Unfortunately, there are no other options.
