On the iPhone, an inactive button connect to Wi-Fi. Short password

Hello. I have an iPhone 5. Was using wifi from a cafe, on the first floor of my house.

I updated the system on my phone. After a while, the following problem appeared:

Finds the network, but does not connect automatically. I enter the password, after which I need to press connect, but the button “connect” looks inactive and therefore does not respond. After I enter any 3 digits or letters in addition to the old password, the button becomes active, but of course it does not connect and writes that the password is incorrect.

The cafe did not change the password. The button to connect becomes active only with 7 digits or letters entered in a chaotic order. The password consists of 5. I rebooted the phone, reset network settings – no effect.

Tell me what to do. Thank you!

Answer

On iPhone, the “Connect” button when connecting to Wi-Fi becomes active after entering a password of at least 8 characters (not 7, you must be mistaken). The password cannot be shorter than 8 characters when using WPA2 security.

I don’t think the cafe network is using the old type of network security. It’s odd that the password to that network is 5 characters. Something’s not right there. Maybe they did change the password, or set up some other way to secure the network and authorize devices. I think we can hardly find out, as you don’t have access to the router settings.

All you can do directly on your iPhone is reset the network settings. But that’s unlikely to solve the problem. If you select this public cafe network, enter the correct password, but the “Connect” button is inactive, there is no way to connect iPhone to this network.
