Why don’t all LAN ports on the TP-Link router do not work?

Good afternoon, I have encountered the following problem: Internet via Wi-Fi connection works, but via LAN from the router to the laptop, does not work.

Earlier everything was normal, but now for some reason one LAN port (out of 4) on the router works, i.e. the Internet comes only from port number 2, if you connect through the rest, there is no Internet. But as soon as I pull the LAN cord out of the laptop, the Internet immediately disappears, and when I plug it back in, the laptop does not see this LANa that it is connected somewhere.

Moreover, this problem is only with the second port, through the other ports, the laptop stably sees that they are connected, and at the same time on the indication panel of the router, shine that the third and second port is connected, (see photo) but the cord is only in the third port, port number 2 is not connected to anything.

Also such a moment that when you reset the router to factory settings, after that it normally sees connections via Lan, and the Internet is present, but as soon as you change the name of the network and/or put a password on wi-fi, after rebooting, again through port number 2 cable does not see, through the other sees, but the Internet is not present.

Answer

Good day. Judging by the photo, you have TP-LINK TL-WR841N or TP-LINK TL-WR741N. There are a lot of things I don’t understand about your problem. First, if possible, I would try experimenting with connecting another device to the router via cable. You could also try connecting with a different cable.

You wrote that the internet only works when connected to the second LAN port. Next:

But as soon as I pull the LAN cord out of the laptop, the Internet immediately disappears, and when I plug it back in, the laptop no longer sees this LANa

You pulled the cable out, plugged it back in, and what? What exactly is happening on the laptop? What’s the connection status? Is the LAN 2 ID on the router lit up after reconnecting?

What you wrote next:

through the other ports, the laptop can see steadily

It turns out that the connection through the other LAN-ports also works. Or how? Again, what is the status of connection on the laptop through the other ports?

Strange, of course, that on the factory settings all works. The Wi-Fi network setting can in no way affect the operation of the LAN ports. You don’t configure connection to your ISP, IPTV? What is your ISP connection type? No MAC address binding?

If two LAN lights are on when the cable is connected to only one port, it sounds like a hardware problem with the router. Maybe something is burned.

Another option is to try updating the router firmware.
