Review TP-Link Archer C80-FAST MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router of the AC1900 Standard

Today we are going to get acquainted with TP-Link Archer C80 router. A very interesting model of home router with support for new technologies and a large number of different features. This is a dual-band model of 802.11ac Wave 2 standard with a total wireless speed up to 1900 Mbps and support for MIMO 3×3 technology. The router is made in a completely new case with an interesting design.

TP-Link Archer C80 is quite a productive router, which will cope with a high load of connected devices without any problems. It runs on a processor with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz. It is equipped with gigabit WAN/LAN ports that support speeds up to 1000 Mbps. The wireless module operates in two bands and provides fast and stable wi-fi connection: up to 600 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band (802.11n), and up to 1200 Mbps in the 5 GHz band (802.11ac).

The wireless signal is broadcast by 4 high-performance, non-removable antennas. The coverage should easily be enough for a three-room apartment, or a medium-sized private home. Much, of course, depends on the location of the router, obstacles, interference.

Having looked at the technical specifications of TP-Link Archer C80, we can conclude that this is the best option for a home router. Not an expensive top model, which costs at least twice as much (and its capabilities are not much superior to Archer C80), and not a budget router for 15 dollars, with which there are often various problems. Especially when connecting a large number of devices at the same time. These are the models I recommend to pay attention to when choosing a router. If your budget allows.

Package and appearance of TP-Link Archer C80

The packaging hasn’t changed. It has a large image of the router, lists the main features, functions and capabilities of this model.

The package is also standard: router, power adapter, network cable, instructions.

The power adapter is 12V and 1.5A, which also indicates the high performance of the router. The power adapter in budget routers is usually at 1A, or even 0.9A. The adapter itself and the network cable that comes with it are of excellent quality.

TP-Link Archer C80 is made in a completely new case. It does not look like previous models from TP-Link.

Almost the entire router, including the antennas, is made of black matte plastic. And only the top panel is characterized by an interesting texture, which is divided by two glossy strips. TP-Link logo is placed in the center.

On the front edge there are icons of indicators. The indicators themselves (which are green in color) are placed a bit higher.

All the ports and buttons are gathered on the back side. There we have a full set: a button for power on/off, a WPS/wi-fi button, and a Reset button. Power connector, WAN-port and 4 LAN ports.

The antennas are non-removable. But they can be folded without problems and hang the router on the wall. There are necessary holes at the bottom.

Also there is one more useful thing – a sticker with factory information (network name, password, address for entering the settings).

TP-Link Archer C80 is a fast and productive router that will provide a stable connection for all your wireless and wired clients. Even if you play online games or watch 4k video on your TV, Archer C80 will do the job without any problems.

Also, for many people it is very important to be easy to configure and manage. The modern web-interface and Tether application, which can be installed on any phone or tablet, are in full order in this respect. This makes it possible to control Archer C80 wherever you are.
