Applications do not work on the old LG Smart TV TV. What to do?

LG 42LW575S-ZC TV is connected to Vodafone router (2.4 and 5 GHz) by cable. In the settings the network status is “connected”. However, Internet TV viewing programs (wi-fiRe, SPB TV, IVI ) and Smart TV do not work. LG support service says that the TV model is old and maybe software manufacturers have stopped supporting it. Please advise how to be and how to find an application that will work on this TV.

Hello. Your LG 42LW575S-ZC Smart TV is very old indeed. It is from around 2011. These are some of the first TVs with Smart TV feature. And it’s quite possible that the apps you have that don’t work are no longer supported by the developers. And the Smart TV system itself is most likely no longer supported by LG. There’s nothing strange about that. There is old hardware, old system, technology, and new applications simply can not work on such devices.

However, Internet TV viewing programs (wi-fiRe, SPB TV, IVI ) and Smart TV do not work

Why don’t these programs work? What exactly is the problem? With startup, or with access to the Internet? Were they working before?

What you can try to do:

  • Turn off the power completely for about 15 minutes.
  • Reset the TV.
  • Connect it to the internet through another router. To rule out problems on the router/provider side.

But somehow I’m sure this won’t fix the problem.

If you want to watch online TV channels, movies through different programs, the same YouTube on an old LG TV, it is better to buy a TV set-top box on Android. One of the most popular: Xiaomi Mi Box S. Or a more affordable option (since your TV doesn’t need 4K support) – Xiaomi Mi TV Stick. Well, or some set-top box from another manufacturer. There are a lot of them.

All the apps will definitely work there. And it will be much easier and more pleasant to use them.
